In this month's 'Meet our tutor' series, we sat down with Ria to find out more about how she plans her lessons and why she loves tutoring.

Why did you become a tutor?

"I decided to become a tutor on MyTutor because I was passionate about helping students with their A-levels, having gone through them myself recently! I received A-level tuition on this platform so I was aware of how easy to use the platform was, so I applied to be a tutor. I felt inspired by the tutor I had and thought “I hope I can do this one day”, which sparked my motivation."

What's the best part of being a tutor?

"The best part of being a tutor is the rewarding feeling you get after a lesson, where the student mentions that they have learnt something new or feel more confident. Reading positive reviews from students and parents is heartwarming."

What advice would you give to pupils about to start tutoring in their school?

"Engage well with your tutor, ask them questions about anything in your subject (they love it!). Arrive to the lesson with a positive mindset and ready to learn, we are here to support you!"

How do you prepare for lessons?

"I prepare for lessons by asking the students at the end of the previous session about what they’d like to cover. I then create a lesson plan but also slightly adapt it based on the student, so it is tailored to what they need more support with."

What are your plans for after university?

"I plan to pursue a Master's degree. Still exploring my options but I love education, whether it’s learning something new or teaching someone what I already know :)"
