16-19 Funding

There is new 16-19 Funding available to support students in English and Maths that didn't achieve a 4 at GCSE.

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium funds can be used for online tutoring as it’s recognised by the EEF as a high-impact intervention for disadvantaged pupils.

In fact, the most common way our schools fund online tutoring is through a combination of Pupil Premium and the NTP. This year, there has been a 5% cash increase in Pupil Premium funding that translates to £1035 per eligible secondary school pupil.

The National Funding Formula

The National Funding Formula is how the government allocates funds to mainstream schools effectively and fairly. Information on Academic Year 2024-25 was published by the DfE earlier this year and shows funding has increased by 1.9% per pupil meaning every Secondary School will receive at least £5,995 per pupil.

You can use your core school budget to fund tutoring, giving you the greatest flexibility to set up long-term tutoring interventions as part of your school improvement strategies.

16-19 Funding: English and Maths

New 16-19 Funding has been introduced to support students who did not achieve grade 4's in GCSE English and Maths. Students could receive £375 per subject to help them meet the requirements of 4 hours study per week in Maths and 3 hours in English.

In its first year, the DfE has advised that the funds can be used for tutoring. With our near-peer tutoring model, we're well placed to support 16-19 students who need extra help, a confidence boost and a more independent way to study.

The National Tutoring Programme

The National Tutoring Programme has come to an end with no more funds available for 2024/25. Over the last 4 years, the NTP has funded over 5 million tutoring courses, tens of thousands of these were with MyTutor!

We've been an NTP approved tuition provider for 4 years running and were pivotal partners in the creation of this funding to support essential catch up for disadvantaged pupils after the pandemic.

We're proud to say that our tutor training, quality and performance, along with the support we give our schools and safeguarding, meet the highest DfE standards. And we're dedicated to continuing the mission of the NTP.
