How MyTutor supports EAL pupils

Many schools prioritise support for EAL students with the lowest levels of language proficiency, using outside provision to teach foundational language skills. But how do you close the gap between mid-level language learners and native speakers, so everyone has the best chance of success?

MyTutor’s targeted 1:1 provision enables higher proficiency EAL students to take a deep dive into the topics they’re studying in class. Because our tutors explain subjects at the student’s own pace, they can close gaps in knowledge and make sure pupils understand higher level grammar and vocabulary. Tutors can also support with understanding and using formal language for exams.

The fact that they're close in age and subject experts makes pupils feel comfortable and actively participate in learning. As a result, students grow in confidence in their subject and in their ability to express themselves in class and exams.
